I'm probably a bit late with this news but the SciFi Channel is changing its name to SyFy. http://www.tvweek.com/news/2009/03/sci_fi_channel_aims_to_shed_ge.php This is the dumbest thing I have ever read. They are changing the name because of declining rating,

“When we tested this new name, the thing that we got back from our 18-to-34 techno-savvy crowd, which is quite a lot of our audience, is actually this is how you’d text it,” Mr. Howe said. “It made us feel much cooler, much more cutting-edge, much more hip, which was kind of bang-on what we wanted to achieve communication-wise.”

And it must be the name "there was always a sneaking suspicion that the name was holding the network back" Yes, the name is what was holding you back... Not Mansquito and the fact that you show 'pro' wrestling, and don't have any good science ficton on. It could be that you canceled Stargate SG-1 or Stargate Atlantis and don't actually show any good sci-fi any more. I had some hope for Eureka but it isn't very good. Sanctuary is good but I haven;t see the new episodes yet.

It's the crappy programing that is killing the network not the fact that it is too long to text to your buddies. Isn't the the whole point of having a channel dedicated to one subject to go after people interested in that subject? I guess the future is really 250 channels of "Law and Order" oh well.
