Am I the only person that thinks blaming Myspace for bad parenting is completely ludicrous? The news is reporting how children and teens are getting into trouble with Myspace; making fun of teachers; or becoming involved with sexual predicators. This does not make be think Myspace is evil, it is not the cause, merely another conduit for people to interact, for better or worse. It reminds me and it should remind you that the internet is no different that the real world, there are good people and there are bad people. You wouldn't trust a stranger you just met on the street with your credit card why the hell would you give it to them over email or an untrusted web site?! Myspace members know that everyone can see their profiles, and those who talk to people they don't know are liable for their own decisions. If they can't be held liable for their own action they shouldn’t be unsupervised, on the internet or roaming thru Wal-Mart. Myspace is supposed to be a place for friends to interact and meeting new people. Mainstream media is portraying it to be a haven for porn and sex while it is actually not. There are a few bad people out there which is why parents need to take an active roll in their children and what they are involved in. Instead of wasting our time listening to a news report on a website you, the news outlets, should give tips to teenagers and their parents on how to protect themselves while on the internet.
